Our Staff:
Specialised Early Intervention Centre

Our dedicated and capable tutors are well-trained in the theoretical and practical aspects of tutoring children on the Autism Spectrum as well as with Developmental Delays. Qualified and experienced Teachers oversee the Junior Primary Phase. Their hearts and passion shine through in the professional, but compassionate, manner in which they engage with learners on a daily basis, hence earning the title of “ABLE Angel” is bestowed on only a selected few extraordinary individuals.

Investment in ongoing training and development receives a high priority to keep up with current knowledge and approaches.

Atmosphere
The Centre

We pride ourselves in providing a caring and loving atmosphere for learning where each child can feel safe and appreciated. Positive reinforcement takes precedent to ensure healthy self-esteem and confidence are built and nurtured.

Emphasis is placed on creating a relationship and special bond with each child to grow inner motivation and compliance. The warm, home-like setting provides a nurturing environment for little minds and hearts to flourish.

The atmosphere at the Centre clearly demonstrates that Hope and Inspirations forms part of the unique “ABLE approach”.

Our
Approach

The intervention is based on an intensive approach to building skills in a systematic and hierarchical manner through principles contained in internationally recognized and proven therapy methods, like Applied Behavioural Analysis. Principles of other proven methods, such as TEACHH, Floortime, RDI, PECS, are applied through unique, consolidated programs for each child based on their individual needs and skills levels. Augmentative and Alternative Commmunication methods, including Makaton, are applied intensively to support visual communication development.

“If a child can't learn the way we teach, maybe we should teach the way they learn.” - Ignacio Estrada. AAC

ACC
Strategies

The AAC (Augmentative & Alternative Communication) approach assists in identifying alternative methods of communication and implements strategies to support communication development for children who struggle with speech. These may be simple picture boards or sophisticated speech-generating systems. AAC helps someone to communicate as effectively as possible, in as many situations as possible.

"It is more important THAT a child communicates than HOW they communicate"

Approach

The Centre has a well-developed network with professionals in the medical, (occupation, speech, biokinetic, physiotherapy, hippo/horse) therapeutic and educational fields in the area and where necessary refer learners for additional intervention.
